It happened in 2013 in July. I got a severe lumbago while bending forward to cut off withered roses. It was very painful, I lay down for several days to endure the pain, but it didn't go away completely. I still had pain in my lower back, but I was able to deal with it.
At the end of August, my husband and I went to Croatia in our camper van, just as we had done in previous years. At that time, my husband and I had many controversies and our life together was not easy, but we made the best of this vacation in Istria.
During the first week, it suddenly happened when we got out of the motorhome:
An incredible pain went through my back and suddenly - from one second to the next - I could only sit. Lying, standing and walking were all incredibly painful. I spent the nights sitting on a camping chair and could only go to the toilet with my walking sticks and the support of my husband. We endured several days, driving to the nearest town every day, where I was given pain injections, but they didn't really help. After 4 nights we drove home, I can only dimly remember how I endured it, I took strong painkillers.

At home I couldn't manage to get up the stairs and slept in an Ikea chair for a total of 3 weeks, we tried the thorn method, nothing helped.

So I called an experienced New Medicine therapist.
He listened to my story and asked me just one question:
“What happened in February that was special?”
I knew immediately.
I had been in America, had spent a month intensively doing “The Work” of Byron Katie in the so-called Turnaround House and had returned home to my husband with many expectations. He had picked me up from the airport, unfortunately one of my expectations had been that he would receive me with beautifully trimmed hair and beard. Unfortunately, that was the first disappointment.
We spent the night snuggled up together and in the morning my husband asked me if I had noticed anything wrong with his pyjamas. I said - no. He said laconically that he hadn't changed him or the bed linen for 5 weeks now, so it couldn't be as important as I always pretend - I hadn't smelled anything.
I was blown away and I hated him.

For me, that was a betrayal and he did that to me, he had no appreciation for me as a person, that's how I felt.
I did a lot of works on this situation, it was deep-seated and I obviously only managed to resolve it in July.

My therapist did a bit of math, then said: it will be over in 2 weeks at the latest. “Please continue to be careful, don't lift anything heavy. The big pain at the beginning must have been the sciatica, which was affected by the reconstruction of the bone.”
It really was like that: after 10 days I had no more pain at all, and it was great proof that the new medicine was right. I had suffered a very severe drop in self-esteem which I was unable to resolve for a long time.
